Please note: A more detailed guide on how to get photos from
your camera to your computer, and then from your computer into the
gallery, can be found in the sections below this one.
In the gallery, click the "Upload File" link at the top, when logged
in. This allows you to find the photo on your computer by then clicking
"Browse" and then "Continue". See note below about
the auto-resize that will occur and can take several seconds to upload. Next give your photo a title (and optional
description). Select the album it is to be stored in. Click "Continue".
And a message will say it has been added.
Please note, to maintain the size of the gallery and for easy viewing, when uploading
photos they will be automatically resized to a maximum width or height
of 900 pixels, with 80% JPEG compression, and a maximum file size of
1MB. This can take several seconds per photo when you click "Continue".

DIGITAL CAMERAS GUIDE - connecting it to your computer,
and getting the photos from your camera onto your computer.
- Install the software for your camera.
Most digital cameras require a software "driver" that allows your
computer to work with your particular make and model of camera. This
can be installed from the CD that came with your camera, or you can
download the driver from the camera manufacturer's website.
- Connect the camera.
You will likely have a lead that came with your camera, which makes
the connection between your camera and the computer. Follow the
instructions they provide to do this, and for at which point you
should turn the camera on.
- Copy photos on your camera to your computer.
One way is to...
- On your computer double click the icon "My Computer" on the
desktop. If you can't see this right click on the "Start" menu and
select "Explore".
- Now you will see all the storage disks and devices connected.
Double click the drive for your connected camera which will likely
have a common sense name e.g. "MyModel Digital Camera (H:)"
for your particular camera.
- Your photos will be in a subfolder such as "Picture Card" when you
are using plug-in memory cards in the camera, or "Internal Memory"
if you were using the cameras in-built memory, when taking photos.
Double click into folders to look around.
- When you have found your photo files (photos have a file type of
JPEG such as "filename.jpg") select them by going to the menu Edit /
Select All, then Edit / Copy. Now your photos are in your computer's
temporary memory and can be dropped onto your computer...
- Double click "My Computer" again, and look for "Local Disk" which
is usually the (C:) drive or sometimes (D:). This is the permanent
storage disk on your computer. Double click this, and create a new
folder to store your photos in by going to the menu File / New /
Folder and type in a name such as "Photos". Alternatively you can
navigate to a previously created folder if you have one already.
- Double click your folder and then to drop in the photos from your
camera go to menu Edit / Paste. This will now copy the photos from
your camera to your computer. The photos are safely left on your
camera with this method too.
