Self-catering weekend in dormitory accommodation at the Ramblers

DATE TO BE ADVISED PUBLIC
TRANSPORT HILBRE ISLAND
During
sometime in May we propose to organise a walk from West Kirby over to
Hilbre Island. It is not possible to arrange a date yet as we are
waiting for the tide times in 2010. The walk will probably start from
West Kirby at about 11 am to enable travel by train starting with the
09:30 from Maghull to Central.
Leader:
John Dougherty. Details will be announced when we can fix a firm date
and time. Places on this walk will be limited as numbers are restricted
and a permit has to be obtained.

SATURDAY 28 AUGUST COACH
CARTMEL RACES
This
is a social day out suitable for all the family.
Coach leaves Central Square at 8.30 am.
The National Hunt racing at Cartmel in the Lake District is an informal
affair with a party atmosphere and funfair. The nearby village can be
visited during the day. The cost, which includes entrance to the course
is: Adults £17.50; over 60s: £15.50; Accompanied children under 16: £3.

TRANSPORT CHESTER
Meet at Maghull station for 09:30 train to Central.
Change to Wirral line platform for 10:15 to Chester. Heritage walk
visiting some of the historic places in the city centre including the
Roman walls. Walk will take about 2.5 hours. Leader Peter Neild.

WHAT TO BRING
Strong boots with woollen socks. Trainers are not suitable except on
short walks in good weather. Waterproof clothing. Warm trousers
(preferably waterproof and/or with gaiters in bad weather). Hat and
gloves in winter. Spare sweater and rucksack. Packed lunch, drinks,
snacks (biscuits, chocolate, fruit etc.)
SOCIAL ACTIVITIES
Our club nights are held at Maghull Royal British Legion, Liverpool
Road South (by the Red Lion Bridge). Meetings start at 7:15pm and
this is a useful opportunity to book for coach trips and to obtain up
to date information about the club’s activities. The dates are:
