Welcome to Maghull Rambling Club

Friendly, Informal Walking Club for all ages and abilities

Maghull Rambling Club was formed in 1976 and is a friendly, informal organisation which aims to provide country walks for people who either wish to start a new pastime, or who are already experienced in hill and mountain walking.

We organise a variety of walks, both local and further afield and cater for all ages and ability levels.

A little bit about us

As a walking club based near Liverpool we visit the hills, mountains and countryside in the Lake District, Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Shropshire and Wales. This is along with local walks in the nearby countryside.

Our location is ideal as we are situated close to the motorways which enables us to have a varied walks programme for places within easy reach. We have a monthly coach walk and a monthly car walk and regular weekday walks which include some local transport walks.

We organise around 80 different walks a year that cater for all levels of fitness and experience, ranging from short, flat walks to strenuous mountain hikes.
If you like walking and socialising, then try us out.

You don’t need to be able to map read as every walk has an experienced leader so you can relax and enjoy yourself. Families are welcome and we also offer some dog friendly walks.

We occasionally organise weekends away.

Monthly Meetings  – We meet at 7.30 pm on the last  TUESDAY of each month in Kensington House, 12 Station Road, Maghull L31 3DF. There is ample parking at the front of the building. Non-members interested in walking are welcome.

We would like to encourage more people (irrespective of age or experience) from Maghull and the surrounding area, to join our walking groups/become a member. We suggest that if you are interested you come with us on a couple of walks/outings before deciding to  join the club.

Guided Walks

Each walk has an appointed leader to assist and guide you throughout your walk. For new members this gives you peace of mind that you will guided along the way.

Transport Arranged

We use various means of transport for our walks. Local walks may use public transport or car sharing and we also organise coach travel were appropriate.

Social Events

It’s not all walking! Our Walking Club is very much about friendly, social interaction and we also regularly host various types of social events for our club members.
